Bonds Of Grief
Reflecting on our sufferings
We must not forget the suffering of others.
Bonds of grief are often stronger than bonds of love.

Welcome to my blog. In my quiet hours I seek to touch the depth of myself and my surroundings. My thoughts that take form of poetry are just the scratches on the surface of life as it reveals to me. Wrapped in a delicate veil of symbolism and ambiguity these verses and expressions also fulfill my desire to share a bit of my self with others. I hope reading them would be as enjoyable for you as writing them has been for me.

Reason and Compassion
The two light beams,
Flooding the heart and mind,
The guiding lights for humanity.
Gazing upon the periphery of mystical entrance,
Beyond my reach,
I realize this is the highest,
I could aim or strive for.

I sit alone!
Only to realize I am never alone.
I detach myself!
Only to realize I am attached to all.
In silence I hear my breath!
Through Prana, Universe pouring all its vigor in to me!
In silence I hear my speech!
Even with eyes closed my Vak( speech) reciting all my experiences to me!
Like River of Life gushing with full force!
Charming, enticing, energetic, enthusiastic!
I think of our ancients.
Sages, kings and commoners alike,
Sitting in front of fire chanting Vedic verses
Prayers starting with Om!
Rk and Sama creating a joint rhythm.
Rhythm that relies on breath and Speech!
प्राण: & वाक:
A couple united through Life- The Eternity!
Note: These random thoughts are inspired by Chandogya Upanishad.

I sit idly staring at horizon.
Nothing at particular!
To focus and concentrate on
Any particular is a power,
Now in recession!
A show of slow rhythmic movements
Grab whatever little focus I have!
A white cloud floats in the blue sky!
A red bird sits on the stalk of
Flower pot for few seconds.
Hymn! Never saw her sitting so close to me!
She flies away before I could even think of
Snapping a picture of it!
Squirrels seems to have vanished this summer!
I wonder why?
But a rabbit often hops through back yard,
Summer heat makes him look thinner!
Marvels of life pulsating through
Simple little things put me at ease!
Beyond my blank, vagabond stares
Quiet surroundings of my back yard
Aren’t as quiet as one would think!
Even with waning physical and mental prowess
Life offers so much to focus on!

Ambitions are high!
So are the road blocks!
Somewhere in between lie
The human capabilities
And means to perform!
The one who finds a harmonious way
To balance all this
Leads a happy and successful life!

Note: Chandogya Upanishad forms the last eight chapters of Chandogya Brahmana of Sàmveda. The Shlok creates a musical rhythm for the Universal harmony and takes into account the welfare of six beings of Universal order. I have tried to translate it in a Bhajan with my crude knowledge of language and music, keeping the true meditative spirit of Shlok alive. The thought that it pays homage to our ancestors has really touched my heart.

Mind a big scrolling pad!
Thoughts scrolling in,
Thoughts scrolling out!
Catching a single thought
And staying with it…..
Like pausing to scroll
On an electronic device
And actually paying attention
On something worthwhile!
